Backbone attend EU-China summit
Backbone IT Group attended the EU - China summit yesterday in Nanjing, attended by the country’s premier, Wen Jiabao.
The premier captured headlines as he spoke of the increasing number of states putting pressure on the Chinese government to strengthen its currency. Although European representatives had attempted to persuade China to let the renminbi appreciate, Wen Jiabao made it clear that little progress had been made and labelled as unfair the stance of protectionism by some countries in light of demands for the renminbi to increase in value.
He called such demands a “restriction on China’s development” and further stated that “maintaining the basic stability of the renminbi exchange rate has benefited China’s economic development and benefited world economic recovery.”
Backbone IT Group, which has its China headquarters in the former capital city of Nanjing was represented by Jonathan Wei, Director of Marketing for China. Our attendance at this event via the China Britain Business Council coincided with Nanjing’s selection as one of the top 10 fast-developing cities by the by the China International Urbanisation Development Strategy Research Committee.
The committee aims to illustrate the rate of China’s urbanisation. In addition to Nanjing, the other cities featured in the list were Shanghai, Chengdu, Beijing, Tianjin, Guangzhou, Fuzhou, Hangzhou, Changsha and Jinan.
