Google iPhone application revealed
Google will be releasing a new application for Apple’s iPhone, the Internet giants have announced.
The application will feature a combination of the Internet giants major services, such as search and GMail, in a single interface.
In a statement, Google said that the new app would “…make it easier to find, use and switch between its services on the iPhone.”
The announcement is just the latest in a recent flurry of mobile activity for Google, following hot on the heels of a bid for wireless spectrum in the US and the unveiling of plans for the Android open-source mobile operating system.
Although Google Maps and Youtube (now a Google-owned company) were among the earliest iPhone applications, Apple have been reluctant to allow third-party development for the popular media-enabled phone. However, there are plans for a developers kit to be made available in February which should see a surge in the number of applications available.
