Google: Top worldwide brand
Google has been named as the planet’s most powerful brand for the second year running in a recent study.
According to research firm Millward Brown’s “Brandz” report, which ranks the value of the world’s largest brands, Google’s branding is now worth an estimated $86 billion.
In the list, which places Google above firms such as General Electric, Microsoft and Coca-Cola, the value of Google brand is reckoned to have increased by 30 percent since 2007.
The top 10 brands in full were as follows:
1. Google ($86 billion)
2. General Electric ($71 billion)
3. Microsoft ($70 billion)
4. Coca-Cola ($58 billion)
5. China Mobile ($57 billion)
6. IBM ($55 billion)
7. Apple ($55 billion)
8. McDonalds ($49 billion)
9. Nokia ($43 billion)
10. Marlboro ($37 billion)
Although the report measures the financial worth of the Google brand, it does not touch on how consumers now feel about the company that now dominates the search market.
Earlier this year Google was also named the top UK brand by the Superbrands industry survey.
