IN THE BEGINNING

FIRST SERVICES

We delivered our first services in a new field of 'Search Engine Optimisation' for Yahoo, Google and MSN (now Bing).

OFFICES

The company incorporated and moved into offices in the White Cross, Lancaster where our head office remains to this day. Shortly after, we moved to set up an additional office in China. We're the first and longest established Western - Chinese web development & marketing agency.

CHINA OFFICE

An official legal company status was approved in Nanjing, China

SCHOOLS & COLLEGES

The company was approved by the UK government for E-Learning credits. With core values centering on providing web development and design which excel for both the client and the end-user alike, we supplied schools and education establishments with extranets.

CHINA SERVICES

The China market was changing. Backbone IT Group first offered services to assist Western companies in gaining access to a challenging but rewarding Chinese online market.

ASSOCIATES

The company gained ISO9001 status, was featured on Microsoft's website as a case study and became Lancaster University Infolab Associate Members. U.S. branch opened.

PARTNERS IN CHINA

We became members of The China Britain Business Council and also Alipay partners, giving access to e-commerce facilities in China to Western firms. Clients expand from UK-centric to include mainland Europe, U.S. and APAC clients.

RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT

Research and Development grants awarded by the UK Government led us to research and develop live streaming scenarios.

ALL CHANGE

Our firm restructured. Backbone IT Group was acquired by Oxcliffe Ltd and, retaining most staff, was restructured as a close limited company.

LONDON CALLING

An increasing client base led to the addition of office space in the capital to better serve London-centric clients.

GOVERNMENT ADVISORS

Backbone IT Group became advisors on the UK government’s Department for International Trade (formally UKTI) E-export program.
